Most employees in Ireland are entitled to 4 working weeks of paid annual leave a year. How much someone has earned depends on the hours they worked. Enter their numbers and this runs all three statutory methods.

How much annual leave are employees entitled to in Ireland?
Most employees are entitled to 4 working weeks of paid annual leave a year under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. A working week is the days someone usually works, so for someone on 3 days a week, 4 working weeks is 12 days.
What are the three ways to calculate annual leave?
Method 1 gives 4 working weeks for a leave year with at least 1,365 hours worked, except in a year the employee changed employment. Method 2 gives a third of a working week for each calendar month with at least 117 hours. Method 3 gives 8% of the hours worked in the leave year. The employee gets whichever gives the most, up to 4 working weeks.
How is annual leave calculated for part-time workers?
Generally with method 3: 8% of the hours they work, up to 4 working weeks. If someone works full time for part of the year and part time for the rest, each period is calculated separately.
Are public holidays included?
No. Ireland has 10 public holidays a year, and public holiday benefit is a separate entitlement from annual leave.
