Shift swap

A shift swap is an exchange of scheduled shifts between two employees. In a well-run process the employees propose and accept the swap, a manager approves it after rule checks (skills, rest, overtime), and the official rota updates — so responsibility and pay always follow the person actually working.

Informal swaps arranged in group chats are the failure mode: the rota still shows the original name, payroll pays the wrong person, nobody checked qualifications or working-time limits, and no-shows become unresolvable arguments.

The fix is making the correct path the easy path: propose from a phone in seconds, accept in one tap, approve with the rule checks shown. Swaps then increase — legitimately — because flexibility stops carrying admin risk.
